Quietness

She was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. Her hair loose, falling on the side of her ear, waving above the shoulder. Her eyes tender chocolate brown sparkled by faint sprinkles of green. Legs crossed beneath her body, while she was sitting in the large chair in the front of the house reading some book. In the dime light of the early morning, she was the most beautiful sight he ever remembered seeing.

James stood still for an hour on the front porch of the old house. His feet wouldn’t move if he wanted them to. The coffee on his right hand untouched by his lips grew cooler as the steam raising up from the cup progressively vanished in the cold breeze blowing from Cadilac Mountain.

He followed the girl’s every move with his eyes, the way she scratched her noose and then composed her hair behind the ear. 'How cuter could it get?', James found himself thinking. As if listening to his thought, the girl slowly raised her eyes from the book on her lap back at James. He didn’t move or gazed away. For a moment in time, they were the only souls alive under the dawning skies.

Regina Spektor- The Call

It started out as a feeling

Which then grew into a hope
Which then turned into a quiet thought
Which then turned into a quiet word

And then that word grew louder and louder
'Til it was a battle cry

I'll come back
When you call me
No need to say goodbye

Just because everything's changing
Doesn't mean it's never been this way before
All you can do is try to know who your friends are
As you head off to the war

Pick a star on the dark horizon
And follow the light
You'll come back when it's over
No need to say goodbye

You'll come back when it's over
No need to say goodbye

Now we're back to the beginning
It's just a feeling and no one knows yet
But just because they can't feel it too
Doesn't mean that you have to forget

Let your memories grow stronger and stronger
'Til they're before your eyes

You'll come back
When they call you
No need to say goodbye

You'll come back
When they call you
No need to say goodbye

Dreaming long before night comes
Prevents sleep to set on me,
Distractive from ancient thoughts

I'll be waking up soon,
Hoping you to be there,
By my side

O tuga comedido

estou num mundo aflito
onde tudo vende e tudo compra
e já nada faz sentido

vivo segundo a lei maldita,
escravidão desumana e desleal,
onde cada sonho gravita
ao sabor do mercado cambial

tempos duros e incertos,
desígnios de pobreza e ingratidão,
desespero desmedido e renegado
às euforias da eleição

deste país que deixamos,
pouco resta que aceitar
esconder que não se tem para comer
mostrar o jaguar que não se pode pagar

valham-nos as migalhas de pão
compradas com a pensão dos avós:
do pouco sobra-lhes sempre tostão,
pela reza multiplica-se-lhes os dons

são tempos curtos, espera-se,
estes de infortúnio e sofreguidão:
vá-se depressa o raio da crise,
venha de lá, de novo,
mais crédito ao cartão
